Why did you set up British Jewellery School Rachel ?

Jewellery has been a lifelong passion for me. Through my bespoke business, I have come to understand the significant meaning and sentimental value that jewellery holds. It is not uncommon for clients to come in with heirlooms passed down through generations, each piece carrying a wealth of memories and emotions.

At the British Jewellery School, our mission is to place you at the forefront of creativity. Whether you wish to design your own pieces, explore a new art form to enhance your skills, learn new techniques, or simply enjoy a memorable time with loved ones, we are here to make it happen and look after you.

Jewellery-making is an enduring art form, and sadly, many of our master goldsmiths have been lured overseas. We are determined to celebrate the finest of British craftsmanship. I am passionate about preserving this art form in the UK, which is why we established the school in response to our bespoke clients' requests to witness their jewellery being created and even try their hand at the making process.

Our commitment lies in offering our clients the necessary support, guidance, and above all, an exceptional experience throughout their creative journey.

I have a long established amazing team that has been carefully assembled over the years. I thought, why not share this expertise. My ultimate goal is to create a truly special day for my clients. Whether it's a wedding band making class or creating something unique for yourself with your friends. I strive to give our clients the best of both worlds - a stunning piece of jewellery that holds personal significance, along with an unforgettable experience.

Teaching is something I absolutely adore and it runs in my family too. The master goldsmiths I had the privilege of training with are now in their senior years. Goldsmithing is dying art sadly. That's why our professional making days present a wonderful opportunity for us to pass on these valuable skills, ensuring they won't be lost forever."

What would you say is the best bit about a making day?

Well, besides our beaming smiles, it's really hard to choose just one! But if I had to pick the absolute best is witnessing our clients leave with giant smiles on their faces and filled with pride for what they've created. However, being a big food lover myself I must admit that popping the champagne cork and seeing our guest indulging in delightful hospitality is always a nice moment too. You may catch me eating the odd breakfast pastry as well…oops

What’s your personal favourite experience day to teach?

Oh, I absolutely adore them all! Each experience day is unique and special in its own way. But if I had to pick one, I would say working with bridal clients holds a special place in my heart. There's something truly magical about being a part of the ring-making journey for the bride or groom. It's an immense honour to help create one of the most meaningful pieces of jewellery they'll ever own."

What would you say to anyone not sure about coming on an experience day?

Get ready to be blown away by our extraordinary team - undeniably the best in the business. Yes, you're one lucky bunch! Don't worry about feeling nervous, because we truly believe in your abilities. We're here to provide all the support and guidance you need throughout every process to develop your skills as much as you need it. We keep our classes small - to ensure a personalised experience.

We welcome clients from all walks of life, including those who claim they lack creativity or have never tried their hand at crafting. Trust us, it's absolutely okay to start from scratch.
